What is a payroll export?
A payroll export is a file that transfers approved hours, allowances, leave and expenses from the time tracking system to payroll, in the layout and with the wage codes the payroll system expects.
What is in a payroll export
Each row typically holds an employee number, a period or date, a wage code and a quantity: hours, minutes or an amount. Regular hours, overtime, each allowance band, leave and kilometres often get their own wage code. Some payroll systems want decimal hours (7.75), others minutes (465), and almost every system has its own column order and date format.
The most common pitfall is retyping. When someone copies totals from timesheets into payroll by hand, errors creep in and nobody can trace a number back to the original shift.
Payroll exports in TimeTracking
TimeTracking exports approved hours as configurable CSV or XLSX, with a ready-made SD Worx format. Direct exports for Loket, Nmbrs, AFAS and DATEV are coming soon. Exported hours are marked as exported and can be locked with the period, so the file payroll received always matches what is in the system.
