What Toggl Track does well

Toggl Track is built around a simple, polished timer. People start it when they begin a task and stop it when they are done, and reports show where the time went per project and client. Browser extensions and integrations with many productivity tools make it popular with agencies, freelancers and knowledge workers.

According to Toggl's pricing page, paid plans are Starter at $9 and Premium at $16 per user per month. Timesheet approvals are only available on Premium.

When Toggl Track is a good fit

If your team works at desks, tracks time against projects for billing, and lives in tools such as browsers, calendars and project boards, Toggl Track does that job well. Teams that don't need approvals, location features or expenses may never need more than its lower plan.

Where TimeTracking is different

TimeTracking is built for crews who are not at a desk: warehouse teams, construction crews, cleaners, flex workers placed at clients. That changes the priorities.

  • Approvals are included in Core at €1 per user per month, including client approval through a magic link without a login.
  • Rosters with predicted hours to confirm in one tap; geofence nudges at a site are coming soon.
  • A tablet kiosk with a personal 6-digit PIN for workers without a company phone; Toggl Track has no kiosk.
  • Mileage, travel time and expenses per employee; Toggl Track does not track expenses.
  • Apps and web in 20 languages; Toggl's web app is available in English only.
  • Rosters, leave and payroll exports in the same system.

Switching from Toggl Track

You can export your Toggl Track data as CSV and keep it for reference. In TimeTracking, start with the Free plan for up to 5 users, set up your sites and clients, and invite your team. Importers for time data exported from other tools are on our roadmap; until then, a CSV of historic hours can be kept alongside.
