Employee time tracking that your team will actually use

Time tracking for employees works when it is quick for the person on the shift and reliable for the person running payroll. TimeTracking is an employee time clock app for iOS, Android, web and shared tablets, made for shift, field and staffing teams. It records when people worked and where the hours belong, and nothing more.

TimeTracking (timetracking.tech) is a B2B time tracking app for iOS, Android and web for shift, field and staffing teams. Free up to 5 users; Core €1 and Pro €3 per user per month.

Animated demo: the office “Today” board shows who clocked in at the kiosk, who is late against the roster and whose hours are in, without any monitoring. Morning clock-in, Late against roster, Hours in, Hours, not behaviour.

Built on trust, not surveillance

Some employee time tracking tools measure activity: screenshots, mouse movement, keystrokes, constant GPS. That approach damages trust and, in the EU, raises real questions under privacy law. It also rarely improves the accuracy of hours.

TimeTracking takes the opposite position. It records start, end, breaks and the site, client or project the time belongs to. It does not take screenshots and does not monitor keystrokes. The company is based in the EU and data is hosted in Ireland.

  • No screenshots or keystroke monitoring
  • No location tracking
  • EU company with EU hosting in Ireland
  • Every change to an entry kept in the history

Ways for employees to clock in

Different teams work in different places, so there is more than one way to record time. A cleaner moving between buildings needs something different from a warehouse team that starts together at six.

  • Phone app: start and stop a timer, or enter hours afterwards
  • Web app: for office staff and managers at a desk
  • Kiosk: a shared tablet where each person clocks in with a PIN
  • Predictive entries on Pro: confirm a proposed day in one tap

Rosters, leave and the rest of the working week

Hours rarely stand on their own. On Core and Pro, managers can publish rosters so employees know where they are expected, and the planned shift can be compared with the hours actually worked. Leave requests sit in the same app, so a day off does not show up later as a missing timesheet.

Mileage, travel time and expenses can be recorded alongside the hours. For field teams this removes a separate expense form and keeps everything for one day in one place.

What managers and the office get

For managers, employee time tracking is about having complete, approved hours on time. TimeTracking shows who has submitted, who has not, and which entries still need a look. Approvals happen in the web app, and for staff working at clients the client can approve by secure magic link without an account.

When the period closes, the office exports it as CSV, XLSX or JSON, or on paid plans uses a configurable payroll export. For checking break rules or overtime by hand, the free calculators on the site help with a quick sanity check.

Teams that use an employee time clock app

TimeTracking is designed for work that does not happen at one desk: staffing agencies with workers at many clients, construction crews moving between sites, logistics and warehouse shifts, cleaning teams on routes, and care staff working rotating shifts.

Each of these has its own pattern of shifts, sites and approvals, and the same app adapts to them through rosters, placements and export settings rather than through custom builds.

Rolling it out to your team

Start small. Invite a handful of employees on the Free plan, which covers up to five users, and run one or two pay periods alongside your current process. Compare the totals, adjust export settings, then invite the rest of the team on Core or Pro.

Because the app speaks 20 languages, most employees can start without training. A short explanation of what is recorded, and what is not, does more for adoption than any manual.

Frequently asked questions

Does TimeTracking monitor employees' screens or keystrokes?

No. It records working hours, breaks and where the time belongs. It does not take screenshots and does not record keystrokes or activity levels.

Can employees clock in without their own phone?

Yes. A shared tablet can run in kiosk mode, where each employee clocks in and out with a personal PIN.

Is location tracked all the time?

No. TimeTracking does not track location today. Planned geofence nudges will only work with the employee's permission and never as continuous tracking.

Can employees use the app in their own language?

Yes. The app is available in 20 languages, and each employee can use their own language within the same team.

Does it handle rosters and leave too?

Yes, on Core and Pro. Rosters and leave are included alongside time tracking, mileage, travel time and expenses.

Where is employee data stored?

TimeTracking is an EU company and hosts its data in the EU, in Ireland.
