## Which template fits your situation?

Every template has the same core: a line per day or per person with start time, end time, break in minutes and hours worked. What differs is the period it covers and who has to sign it. Pick the one that matches how you pay people and who needs to agree with the hours.

- Weekly: the standard for most teams. Seven days, one signature from the employee and one from the manager.
- Bi-weekly: two weeks on one sheet, for 14-day pay periods or a four-weekly payroll split into two halves.
- Monthly: one line per calendar day, for monthly payroll and part-timers with irregular days.
- Staffing agency client sheet: a weekly sheet with worker, agency, client, placement and PO number, signed by the client.
- Construction daily sheet: one sheet per site per day, with a line per crew member, signed by the foreman.

## Paper, Excel or an app?

Paper and spreadsheets are fine for a small team with fixed hours and one person who checks everything. They cost nothing, everyone understands them and nobody needs an account. The Excel version calculates hours and totals for you, which removes most arithmetic mistakes.

They stop working well when sheets arrive late, get lost in a van, or have to be signed by a client at another location. Then someone spends the end of every period chasing signatures and retyping hours into payroll. That is the point where timesheet software pays for itself, and it is also why we built TimeTracking. Until then, use these templates; they are free and stay free.

## How the files are made

All templates come from one definition, so the Excel file, the CSV file and the printable page always have the same columns. The Excel file uses simple formulas (end minus start minus break) that work in Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice and Numbers. The CSV file has the headers and the pre-filled days, so you can import it into any system.
