Status: Live

TimeTracking's MCP server and Claude Skill let Claude read and work with your time data, with the same permissions as the user who connects it. Both are live today.

## How to connect Claude

1. **Create an API key**: In TimeTracking, create an API key with the permissions you want Claude to have.
2. **Add the MCP server**: Add the TimeTracking MCP server to your MCP-compatible client and paste the key. The developer docs have the exact configuration.
3. **Install the Skill**: Install the Claude Skill so Claude knows the common TimeTracking tasks and conventions.
4. **Ask in plain language**: Ask about hours, overtime and approvals, and confirm any action Claude prepares.

## What it does

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to tools and data. With TimeTracking's MCP server connected, you can ask Claude questions in plain language, such as which placements have unapproved hours this week or how much overtime a team worked last month, and have it prepare actions for you to confirm.

The Claude Skill adds instructions for common tasks, like preparing a payroll check before export or summarising conflicts for a client call.

- Questions about hours, overtime and approvals
- Prepared actions you confirm
- Same permissions as the connected user
- Built on the public REST API

## Built on the open API

The MCP server uses the same REST API (with an OpenAPI spec), webhooks and CLI that developers can use directly. If you prefer your own agents or scripts, you can connect them to the API without Claude.
