A kiosk is a tablet on site (factory floor, warehouse entrance) where workers clock in and out with a personal PIN. No app or email needed. Clocking out records the hours as kiosk hours ("Kiosk") on the worker's placement.

Developer details: [Kiosk](https://timetracking.tech/developers/data-in/kiosk).

## 1. Create the kiosk (admin)

1. Go to "Regels & koppelingen" (Rules & integrations) → "Kiosk (tablet op locatie)".
2. Enter a name (e.g. "Hal 3 – Logistiek Parkstad").
3. Optional: choose one client ("Alleen voor opdrachtgever"). Then only placements at that client can clock in on this tablet. "Alle opdrachtgevers" (all clients) allows every active placement.
4. Click "Kiosk toevoegen" (add kiosk). A device token starting with `ttk_` is shown **once**. Copy it now.

## 2. Prepare the tablet

1. Open this address in the tablet's browser, with your token: `https://app.timetracking.tech/kiosk#device=ttk_...`
2. The tablet remembers the token and removes it from the address bar. Add the page to the home screen.
3. Lock the tablet to this page (iPad: Guided Access; Android: screen pinning or a kiosk-mode app). Keep it charged and on Wi-Fi.

If the tablet's browser data is cleared, open the address with the token again. Lost the token? Remove the kiosk ("Ontkoppelen", disconnect) and create a new one.

## 3. Give workers a PIN

1. Go to "Medewerkers" (Employees), open the worker, fill "Pincode" and click "Pincode opslaan" (save PIN).
2. PINs must be **exactly 6 digits** and not easy to guess: not all the same digit (`111111`) and not a run (`123456`, `654321`). Each PIN must be unique within your organisation. Older 4–5 digit PINs keep working until they are changed.
3. Tell each worker their PIN privately.

## 4. Daily use

1. Worker types their PIN.
2. The tablet shows their placements at this site. They tap one to clock in, or to clock out if they are clocked in.
3. On clock-out the hours are recorded with an automatic break: more than 5.5 hours worked → 30 minutes; more than 10 hours → 45 minutes.
4. Kiosk hours then follow the normal flow: matched with other sources, submitted, approved, exported.

## Common problems

| Message / problem | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "Unknown PIN" | Wrong PIN, or the worker is inactive | Check the PIN in "Medewerkers"; set a new one |
| "Too many wrong PINs, try again in a few minutes" | 5 wrong PINs within 15 minutes on this tablet | Wait 15 minutes |
| "Not your placement at this kiosk" | The kiosk is bound to another client, or the placement is not active today | Check the kiosk's client and the placement dates |
| "Open punch is older than 16 hours; ask the office to correct it" | Worker forgot to clock out | Enter the real hours in "Uren invoeren"; the worker can clock in again |
| "Unknown kiosk" | Kiosk removed, or token missing on the tablet | Open the kiosk address with the token again, or create a new kiosk |
| "This PIN is already used by someone else" | PINs must be unique | Choose another PIN |
| Break deducted although the worker had none | Automatic legal minimum break (Dutch Working Hours Act) | Correct the hours in "Uren invoeren" if needed |

## Automate it

Set PINs over the API with `POST /people/{id}/pin {"pin":"482915"}` (write-scope key). Creating kiosk devices over the API needs an `admin`-scope key (or use the dashboard as admin).
